Sunday: Worship

Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …
in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gracious Lord, thank you for this beautiful day, and for the gift of life, itself! As we study our Psalm today, be with us and help us to learn its lessons. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Listen: Pay close attention as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Psalm 62:10-12
Don’t trust in violence or depend on dishonesty or rely on great wealth. I heard God say two things: “I am powerful, and I am very kind.” The Lord rewards each of us according to what we do. (CEV)

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: What does it mean to rely on great wealth? Why doesn’t God want us to do that?

Child: If God is both powerful and very kind, what does that mean for us?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Lord God, we want to do good, and to live good lives, yet we cannot do this on our own. Please help us, and guide us, for you are indeed both powerful and kind. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May you remember that God is kind! Amen.
